PRESSURE DROP CHART
APPLICATIONS
Steam, water, oil or gas where filtration of foreign matter in a Pipeline is required.
CONSTRUCTIONS
The fabricated Basket Strainers are available in Carbon Steel or Stainless steel. Flanged or Butt weld Connections are available. Bolted covers are standard. Quick opening hinged covers can also be supplied on request.
Higher sized strainers can be supplied with davit arm for Easy removal of covers. Drain and vent with pluge are standard However valves can be provided on request Free straining area is minimum 6 times pipe CS area
CLEANING
Cleaning of the style FB strainer is accomplished by Removing the cover and pulling out the basket.
BASKETS
6mm hole dia perforated outer filter element lined with 40 mesh inner filter element is standard. Other filter elements can also be supplied on request. Outer filter element provides for strength of the filter screen and the mesh is spot welded to provide for adequate strength.
FABRICATED BASKET STRAINERS
This Pressure drop chart is based on the flow of clean water through the Fabricated Basket Strainers with 1/8” screen perforations.
CONSTRUCTIONS
Find your desired rate of flow(GPM) on the right hand side of the chart. Follow its corresponding horizontal line to the point where it intersects the diagonal line indicating the strainer pipe size. From this point of intersection, follow the vertical line down to the bottom of the chart to determine the approximate pressure drop.
CORRECTION FACTOR
For finer mesh screens that are backed with a perforated sheet, multiply the pressure drops shown at left by the following :
- 40 mesh x 1.2
- 60 mesh x 1.4
- 80 mesh x 1.6
- 100 mesh x 1.7
