PRESSURE DROP CHART
This Pressure drop chart is based on the flow of clean water through the
Y type Strainers with 1/8” screen perforations.
APPLICATIONS
Steam, water, oil or gas where filtration of foreign matter in a Pipeline is required.
CONSTRUCTION
The Teleflo fabricated Y- type strainers are supplied with a bolted cover and are available with either flanged or butt weld connections.
MODEL
Y STR – STD – FA Strainers have covers as per ANSI standards, however model Y STR – EC- FA have covers designed by Teleflo to cater to different pressure and temperature requirements and thus are cost effective.
FEATURES
The strainer screens are piloted through the use of machined grooves in both the body and cover to ensure proper alignment. The cover gasket is designed for specific pressure and temperature ratings. Teleflo strainers have studs and nuts and are furnished with a blow down plug as standard. Blow down valve can be supplied on request.
FILTER ELEMENTS
Standard screens are 6mm hole dia perforated 304 stainless Steel lined with 40 mesh FOR maximum strength. Different size Perforations and meshes are available in stainless steel, monel, and brass to meet specific media requirements. The mesh screens are spot welded to strengthen the filter assembly.
SELF CLEANING
Self cleaning of Teleflo Y – type strainers are accomplished by opening the valve or drain plug connected to the blow off port. For additional maintenance details please read the installation and maintenance manual.
TO USE CHART
Find your desired rate of flow (GPM) on the right hand side of the chart. Follow its corresponding horizontal line to the point where it intersects the diagonal line indicating the strainer pipe size. From this point of intersection, follow the vertical line down to the bottom of the chart to determine the approximate pressure drop.
CORRECTION FACTORS
For finer mesh screens that are backed with a perforated sheet, multiply the pressure drops shown at left by the following :
40 mesh x 1.2
60 mesh x 1.4
80 mesh x 1.6
100 mesh x 1.7
